InsideSources reported that environmentalist lawyers has spent years trying to win a court ruling that would put energy companies on the hook for millions of dollars in purported global warming damages. But, one man in particular has led the charge: Matt Pawa.
Pawa is attorney who leads the environmental practice group at Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, a firm that specializes in large class-action lawsuits.
Early in his career, Pawa created a group called the Global Warming Legal Action Project (GWLAP). This group brought together state attorneys general, top civil litigators and environmental groups to plan environmental litigation. The organization accepted grants from major liberal donors like the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Wallace Global Fund, and the Tides Foundation, at times using pass through foundations like the Sustainable Markets Foundation and the Civil Society Institute.
